Andy Duboc (French, b. 1988) is a digital artist and designer who uses code to create evolving, minimalist visual systems built from motion, light and color.,Born in Paris and based in Montreal,,he trained in computer science before spending nearly a decade in the video game industry at studios including Ubisoft and Electronic Arts.
He earned a Master of Science in computer science from Université Lyon 2 in 2013.,After his years in gaming, he shifted his focus to generative digital imagery and motion, founding Bureau Noir, a studio for visual art and experimental practice at the intersection of design, code and art.,He also co-founded compute, an art collective that uses NFTs and blockchain technology as a medium.Alongside his own art, he has collaborated as a designer with studios including onformative, FIELD.IO and Interbrand.,
His piece RGB uses algorithms coded in HTML, JavaScript and WebGL so that a single click or tap of the space bar lets viewers reshape its color, motion and composition. It was released in 2023 as part of “GENERATIVE”, a Fakewhale-curated group release of ten generative artists shown with an in-person exhibition at Valuart gallery in Lugano. His project Mishmash similarly uses HTML, JavaScript and WebGL to build dynamic, evolving artworks in a minimalist style. His project AnObject used Solidity, the Ethereum smart contract language, to let collectors actively contribute to the artwork itself.
In 2025, his generative open edition cornell_Box reframed the screen as a spatial environment of shifting, colored light rendered in real time through custom JavaScript and WebGL. The work extends the light-based traditions of Leo Villareal, James Turrell and Sean Hogan, translating their physical strategies into a fully computational language. It was released through Fakewhale on the platform Verse.
