Andrea Bonaceto (Italian, b. 1989) is a London-based artist whose paintings and programmable, blockchain-based works explore artificial intelligence, identity and the passage of time.,Trained in economics and finance, he turned to visual art, poetry and music before moving into digital and blockchain-based creativity.
He co-founded the blockchain-focused investment firm Eterna Capital and Aorist, a cultural institution built around a climate-forward NFT marketplace,and became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.,In 2021 he collaborated with the AI-driven humanoid Sophia the Robot on ARTificial Intelligence,in which Sophia studied his paintings and used neural networks and symbolic AI to produce her own compositions in response, released through Nifty Gateway.His piece Mind draws on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda to explore the mind's capacity to transcend physical limitations.He has said “the artist's creativity is the only limit on what can be achieved through NFTs”.Bonaceto released his NFT collections exclusively through Nifty Gateway, including Forced Freedom in November 2021, his fourth collection on the platform.
His work was included in the exhibition “2121”, considered the first museum show dedicated to crypto art in Italy, held at the DART museum inside Milan's Museo della Permanente until February 2022.The Moon Landing, commissioned by the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, is a programmable work designed to change over the years and reach its final state only when humanity returns to the Moon. His interactive work AB INFINITE 1, which evolves through viewer participation on social media, was auctioned at Christie's 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale in October 2022.In 2023 his work Tempus Fugit, built around an antique pendulum clock frozen in time, sold for GBP 127,000at a dedicated Phillips online auction in London.,
