ALIENQUEEN (Cambodian-American, b. 1982) is a multidisciplinary artist working in digital illustrationand computer animation.Her surreal, densely layered imagery fuses psychedelics, dreams, love and mortality, transforming ordinary scenes into unsettling ones and normalizing what would otherwise feel terrifying, often through recurring skull and skeletal motifs.,,
Born in a refugee camp in Thailand to parents who survived the Khmer Rouge genocide, ALIENQUEEN grew up as an immigrant child in Connecticut in the 1990s.,She has said her skulls and death imagery stem directly from that history, representing a shared humanity beneath race, gender and colour. The melting, dripping effect that runs through her work symbolizes impermanence, an idea she has connected to the sensations of a psychedelic trip.She is based in Miami.
ALIENQUEEN began releasing 1/1 works on SuperRare in August 2021.She created TABZ, a collection of 7,379 generated profile pictures, and co-founded Rektguy, a further collection of 8,813 generated profile pictures.In 2023 she took part in Transient Labs' Alterego project, one of nine artists who anonymously added work to Doppelgänger smart contracts over three days at Art Basel Miami. Working under anonymity and departing from her usual style into glitch art, she produced 14 pieces inspired by George Orwell's 1984, reflecting on blind obedience and authority drawn from her family's history under the Khmer Rouge.
Her work was shown at Obscura during Art Basel Miami in December 2021, a show of ten crypto-native artists curated by David Ariew and published on Nifty Gateway. In 2022 she presented Life's a Trip at SuperRare's first physical gallery in New York during NFT NYC. In 2024 her work was included in “The Art of Punk” at the Francisco Carolinum Museum in Linz, Austria, described as the first museum exhibition by artists from the CryptoPunk community.In February 2025 she presented “Love and Death”, her first solo exhibition, at Artverse in Paris, drawing on her family's history as refugees and marking the launch of her apparel and jewellery line XTAL.,She has collaborated on projects with Gucci, Snoop Dogg, Red Bull Racing and Ubisoft, and her work has been auctioned at Sotheby's.
