Alex Kittoe is a Kansas City–based photographer, visual artist and collage artist whose work explores atmosphere, memory and emotional stillness through travel, landscape, hospitality and documentary imagery.Working across film, digital photography and digital collage,he creates a cinematic, pastel-toned color palette by intentionally overexposing his images and adjusting tones until they match how a moment felt.,
Kittoe grew up in Kansas City and began photographing in 2017, while studying at the University of Denver, after buying a Sony A6000 camera before a study-abroad semester in Alicante, Spain.,A photograph he took of the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland won a university contest and was printed and exhibited in a campus gallery,,which he has said made him determined to keep going.After graduating in 2019 he worked remotely while continuing to travel and photograph,and in 2020 he set aside digital photography to shoot on film exclusively.He left a full-time job in advertising and moved back to Kansas City in 2024 to work as a photographer full time.
He has said NFTs made the shift to working as a full-time photographer possible, giving him the confidence to go all in after finding a supportive circle of fellow artists in the NFT space, where most of his art sales come from.
His archive has grown to more than 60,000 photographs,more than 500 of which he selected for Setanta's Bi-Monthly series 024, a photobook curated with Martina Krosneva and published by Setanta Books.In 2025 he held a solo exhibition of more than 130 works at Groundseesaw East in Seoul,,combining photography, video, sound and graphics across four themed zones and drawing approximately 50,000 visitors.,His work is held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Art + Light in Manhattan, Kansas.
