Alexander Grasser-Parger is an architect, researcher, and generative artist whose work explores real-time participatory digital design and computational design methods. He holds a PhD from TU Graz, with a dissertation titled “Collaborative Objects as Design Media”, a Master's from Innsbruck University, and an undergraduate degree from TU Vienna.
His fx(hash) token Redundancy (2022) treats redundancy as an architectural concept, reconfiguring simple discrete blocks into what he calls “endlessly redundant open architectures”.It was shown in the “fx(hash) Community Curation” group show at the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt in 2022.His fx(hash) series RAUSCH (2023), 256 editions exploring imaginary digital architectures, was released alongside “Companions of Code”, a group show curated by Micol Ap for VerticalCrypto Art at The NFT Gallery in London.,The series treats the pixel resolution of an image as a metaphor for the resolution of architectural space, and is “inspired by the feeling of being overwhelmed by complex, chaotic and messy sensations”.A related set of physical Riso-print editions, DoppelRAUSCH, was shown at the exhibition's New York leg.Its edition DoppelRAUSCH #03 (2023) was later highlighted by Tezos curator Cabline among ten objkt.com artists she felt deserved greater recognition.
In 2024, his work Tangible was included in a tribute to Herbert W. Franke curated by Anika Meier and Susanne Päch for the Art Meets Science Foundation. It was shown at the Generative Art Summit Berlin, held at the Akademie der Künste, and at the exhibition “Code – Kunst – Konstruktionen” in Wolfsburg.At the Summit, he was introduced as “pioneering real-time collaborative digital art” and spoke in a session on the pioneers of Web3 and blockchain.
