Alex Delia is a motion designer and 3D animator who turned his passion for animation into a full-time career minting NFTs. He began animating as a child and later earned a BFA in Film and TV production, but never held a traditional motion-design job. His NFT collection Artifact Quest is a science fiction and fantasy horror collectible universe built around rotating 3D cube-cluster characters he calls Artifacts.
Artifact Quest, an NFT collection Delia describes as a “science fiction, fantasy horror collectible game”, was built with no cap on how many Artifacts could exist. The project unfolds as a story that plays out largely in Discord, where collectors help shape what happens in the narrative. He minted it on the Tezos blockchain rather than Ethereum because of its lower fees, which let collectors buy, trade, and sell Artifacts more freely.
His one-of-one piece Sweet Map went unsold on Ethereum for months before he burned it and relisted it on Tezos for 2,000 tez, a price a collector paid in full. That sale pushed him to leave his job and work on NFTs full-time. Alongside Artifact Quest, he has released 99 Brains, a collection of 3D-modeled brains rendered in gems and materials that was his first collection, and Factoids, described as 3D mutants with Artifacts for heads. He has also described the artist FVCKRENDER buying his rotating glass piece Aquaburn Brick 01 as a highlight of his time as an NFT artist.
Delia has since begun making NFT collections with generative AI tools, starting with the Wombo app for a character series called Sorceress set within the Artifact Quest universe before moving to Midjourney. His project Red Pelican Society, drawing on ophanim angel imagery, manga, and the work of Moebius, produces ancient-looking, AI-assisted imagery meant to read as human-made.
