Albertine Meunier is a French net and data artist whose ironic, often Duchamp-inspired pieces expose how digital systems and platforms actually work, from Google's search engine to generative AI tools.,She is also a collector, buying only art she loves rather than as investment.
In 2009 she made Mona LHO, a readymade ashtray bearing the Mona Lisa's image and wired to Artprice's Art Market Confidence Index, displaying the market's own confidence score at its base as a comment on speculation in the art market. From July 2013 she ran The Innards of L.H.O., a hack of Google's Knowledge Graph that re-tagged Marcel Duchamp readymades such as Fountain and Bicycle Wheel as belonging to the Net Art period, presenting it at FIAC in Paris that year and documenting it in a crowdfunded book.
With Julien Levesque, she originally conceived and led Gang des Seniors connectés, a recurring workshop teaching digital art to elderly participants at venues across the Paris region, before Cristina Hoffmann took over running it from 2016.In 2022 she cofounded NFT FACTORY in Paris, one of more than a dozen cofounders behind the venue. That year she also presented “#Trashart: NFT Garbology” at Galerie Vossen in Paris with the artist Robness, and took part in “Poème Objkt”, a show pairing poetry and visual art, alongside fellow poet-artists including Ana Maria Caballero, Kalen Iwamoto, and Sasha Stiles.,
In 2024 her work entered the collection of the Centre Pompidou. The following year, at the “Prophéties” exhibition during the Scopitone festival in Nantes, she showed Qui est là?, a mediumship-inspired piece exploring the overlap between generative AI and divination.Around the same time, with Benoît Couty and Thuy-Tien Vo, she led Correspondances, a crypto-art residency that guided about twenty Cameroonian visual artists into digital and crypto art, culminating in the exhibition “Camer Crypto-Art”.She also made Flood the zone with shit, an AI-made short film that traces how generative tools have perfected Steve Bannon's 2018 disinformation strategy of the same name, using AI-generated images of Donald Trump. The film won Best Documentary at the AI International Film Festival.
