8th project is a French artist based in Yucatan, Mexico, who reworks familiar pop culture and video game characters into abstract, geometric compositions built from circles, lines and curves. His artist name refers to the seven earlier, non-art projects — including restoration work and reiki — that preceded his turn to art in 2020.
Raised in a family with no connection to the art world, he began making art with markers and printer paper in 2020, drawing early inspiration from Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Paul Klee before finding his main influence in Wassily Kandinsky. Working from what he calls a “destructured vision of reality” informed by Gestalt theory, he breaks down recognizable characters such as Mario, Sonic, Mickey Mouse and Pikachu into rearranged geometric fragments that remain just legible as the original figure.
