Sondra Bernstein, known as 4everKurious, is a Sonoma-based artist working in AI-assisted digital art and photography.,After decades running restaurants including the girl & the fig, she returned to the fine arts photography she studied in college and layers her own photographs into AI-generated compositions.,
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photographyand for years practiced a purist philosophy, never altering her images to depict something that wasn't there.,Her interest in art traces to her mother, a working artist in watercolor, oil, and mixed media, and to a childhood full of museum visits. In her poppy series, she began with her own flower photography and layered it with AI transformation, one instance of a method she uses across her work to fold fragments of her original photography into each piece.,
In January 2023 she became resident artist at the girl & the fig, turning the restaurant into a year-round gallery for her digital art, with part of the proceeds supporting the Sonoma FIG Foundation.,,In late spring 2026, she opened a physical digital gallery, PROTO.logue DIGITAL, in Sonoma. She is also an early member and curator of SearchLight, an international collective that gives visibility to emerging artists, and publishes her own magazine, ARTCHRONICLES, as both a portfolio and an artistic manifesto.,,
Her work returns often to two themes: abstract renderings of psychological and emotional states, and recurring botanical motifs drawn from her lifelong interest in plants.,One recurring project, My Personal Biennale, places her own artworks inside AI-generated gallery spaces, a wry commentary on the difficulty artists face finding representation and visibility.
