This black and white image, created unintentionally from a colour original was a happy accident. I’m almost always creating and working on new pieces and last night while chatting in a dm group with friends, my dog, Pippen jumped up and knocked my phone out of my hands. He was dancing around on my phone like a puppy riverdancer. He managed to open the image, change it to black and white and send it to the group. The fact that he’s a black and white border collie cross made it even funnier. Has he been looking at my work all along wanting me to create black and whites? :) I’d been thinking about creating black and white Ai pieces for some time and I truly believe this was meant to be. Pippen gave me the push I needed to make it happen. From this experience I’ve learnt, with the right piece, stripping the colour away strengthens the shapes and forms and allows the movements to shine. My work is my abstract interpretation of dancers. Whether Ai or photographic, I’m always trying to evoke the elegance and movement in the still image. I love that we’re always learning and moving forward. Art is exploration and reinvention so it’s only fitting that I tackle a new frontier, black and white.
