Is the uterus what defines me as a woman? I was thinking the week I made this painting, which was the result of my reading of "The Second Sex" by Simone de Beauvoir. I never felt that I should engage in this reading, I'm not the kind of person, who gets involved in politics or things like that, if you know what I mean. But then I discovered that YouTube is full of followers of something called Redpill, I watched it, I fried my brain trying to understand it. It's just sexism. It's just the desire to go back to the middle ages, the desire to erase women from society as a way to solve the problem. Yes, the problem exists, but you don't seek the solution by trying to impose the past. Anyway, I realized, I am a woman. The uterus makes me inferior to a man - that's a good point. It is the fact that I am a woman that some religions place me as submissive and sinful - that thing that involves talking to snakes and eating the apple. Is being a woman having to fit into beauty standards? Standards of behavior? Fates calculated to be a mother and wife - compulsorily. I am not a model, I am not tall, I am not the hottest girl, I do not have plastic surgery with big boobs, and believe me, I am getting older - for some people, that lowers my value. But I surprise you, I have my identity. My choices. I have myself. I am my own home.
