“The creation of the Neural Interface meant that humans no longer had to tell the Metaverse where they wanted to go or what they wanted to do - thanks to the DAEMON software, the system already knew. However, being connected to the Metaverse too long can have unintended consequences. Individuals who forego sleep while connected will begin to hallucinate, and as those hallucinations get interpreted as instructions by the Neural Interface, strange things can happen. Concurrently, if an individual were to die while still connected to the Metaverse, the Neutral Interface may spiral into a feedback loop. Though it is considered rare; you can sometimes spot a “shell avatar” lurking in the digital shadows, searching for a new mind to call home.”
