Lake George was painted in a time that humans had to shift away from the "biblical" 6,000-year age of the earth to the conception of deep time extended to millions and then billions of years, which was discovered in the birth of the young discipline of Geology in the 19th century. I am interested in exploring the psychological shifts of the people in transitional states of new thought and their implications and reverberations of deep time and long-term thinking today.
