Artemis, whose Roman name is Diana, was the eldest child of Zeus and the twin sister of Apollo. Zeus was fascinated by his daughter and wanted to fulfill her wishes, and Artemis asked her father for a bow and arrow, a number of hounds, a number of nymphs, the ability to choose and finally eternal virginity, and of course the father accepted all her wishes. Artemis went hunting that night and was named the goddess of the hunt. She was also the goddess of the moon and loved nights and wandering through the forest with a torch. Her realm is wild nature. Artemis is the goddess of the virgin, the hunt and the moon and the symbol of the free female spirit.
