MetaMuseum: St. Thomas's Skull

Thomas the Apostle, also known as Didymus ("twin"), was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus according to the New Testament. Ok, this is what the history tell us. The best hypotheses were that St Thomas had died by a spear in India, even his relics can be visited there. However, this gold-crowned skull was found in China, the site of speculation of St. Thomas during his pilgrimage. All his bones were crumbled under 30 meters of rock and sand in a Chinese temple and only his head remained intact. The golden crown contains an inscription in an unknown language and appears to have been placed after his death. After the discovery, the artifact was exhibited in Europe, where dried flowers adorned the eyes in remembrance of its reputation for 'seeing is believing'. The truth about the place of death is not known, but there are historical coincidences that contribute to this theory. Today, the St. Thomas is on display at the MetaMuseum, where anything is possible and questionable.
