Project Ai: Orbiting Celestial Bodies

Like gravity, the human figure possesses a powerful attracting force. Most of us are regularly drawn into the orbit of human bodies, either to the single body of a loved one or the collective gathering of a crowd. Perhaps this is why we refer to the beautiful objects in the night sky as "Celestial Bodies".

Almost everyone can relate to the feeling of time standing still when in the presence of physical beauty. I often propose this thought experiment; imagine yourself sitting comfortably on the edge of a beautiful canyon. An array of beautiful colors flicker in the atmosphere as the sun sets beneath the horizon line, coating the surface of the canyon walls in a golden glow. The stars begin to twinkle and wind softly blows. Now imagine a figure enters the scene. What is the focus of your attention?

Try as we might to resist, the gravitational pull of the human form is hard-wired. It is engrained in our DNA. The human figure is divine.

This project is about exploring the figure while collaborating with the model and Ai. Together we are able to dream up scenery and worlds that would have required an excessive amount of pre-planning and design prior to Ai. Work that would have taken weeks or months to coordinate is now accomplished in minutes and captured seamlessly using a computer that fits in the palm of my hand.
