Sometimes, things don’t become what we hoped they would be.
Flowers are meant to bring beauty, but here they obscure a face. Hands reach toward them, as if they could change what is happening, stop the fall, or undo what has already begun. Other hands wait below, ready to catch what is slipping away.
But nothing is caught. Nothing is stopped. Nothing is restored.
Every gesture carries the possibility of changing the outcome, yet none of them succeeds. The flowers keep melting. The face remains hidden. The hands are left suspended between intention and consequence.
I wanted each element to feel as though it were trying to do something: to offer beauty, to intervene, to protect, to hold. But each attempt falls short of what it was meant to accomplish. What remains is not the moment of failure itself, but its shape — the traces of everything that tried, and the quiet evidence that trying was not enough.
Perhaps failure is not always a dramatic ending. Sometimes, it is the accumulation of small, unfinished gestures. The things we reach for, the things we try to save, the changes we almost manage to make.
And sometimes, all that effort leaves us exactly where we began.
