Adelaide This name comes from the Germanic name Adalhaidis, meaning "noble kind" or "noble sort"¹. Queen Victoria chose this name for one of her daughters.
Adelaide was a curious and adventurous young woman who loved to explore the wonders. She had a knack for tinkering with gadgets and machines, and often visited the workshops and markets where she could find new parts and inventions. She also had a soft spot for animals, especially her pet Croak the Pepe Frog, who accompanied her everywhere.
One day, as she was walking through the busy streets, she saw a poster advertising a new attraction: a flying airship that would take passengers on a scenic tour of the city. Adelaide was immediately fascinated by the idea of seeing the city from above, and decided to buy a ticket for the next flight.
She boarded the airship with Croak in her arms, and found a seat near the window. She looked around and saw that there were only a few other passengers, mostly wealthy tourists and businessmen. She felt a bit out of place in her simple dress, but she didn’t care. She was too excited to see the view.
Adelaide was so mesmerized by the sight that she didn’t notice when someone sat next to her. It was a young man, dressed in a fine suit and hat. He had dark hair, blue eyes, and a charming smile. He introduced himself as Edward, and said that he was a journalist who was writing an article about the airship.
He asked Adelaide if he could interview her, and she agreed. He asked her about her name, her occupation, her hobbies, and her frog. He seemed genuinely interested in her answers, and complimented her on her intelligence and creativity. He also told her about himself, his travels, his stories, and his dreams. Adelaide felt a connection with him. She felt a warm feeling in her chest, and wondered if he felt it too.
The airship reached its destination, and began to descend. Edward asked Adelaide if she would like to join him for dinner at a nearby restaurant. He said that he wanted to continue their conversation, and maybe write more about her in his article. He said that he liked her very much, and hoped that she liked him too.
Adelaide looked into his eyes, and saw sincerity and affection. She smiled, and nodded. Croak, croaked happily in her arms. They walked together towards the restaurant, under the setting sun. They didn’t notice the people staring at them, or the cameras flashing at them. They only had eyes for each other.
They had just met, but they felt like they had known each other for a long time.
They had just begun their story, but they felt like it would last forever.
