Botticelli’s Birth of Venus depicts a movement from the unseen into the visible. Venus emerging from the sea, carried toward the shore by the wind. The wind becomes an invisible force of birth - breath, movement, and the energy that brings something hidden into existence. Venus does not simply appear, she is brought into the world by forces that cannot be seen.
Inner Chroma reverses this movement. When the eyes close, the visible world disappears, but vision does not end. It turns inward. Color begins to drift through darkness - like an inner sea, carried by invisible currents of consciousness.
The sea becomes the space of the unconscious. Zephyr, the wind becomes breath — the invisible movement between perception and thought. Venus moves from inner to outer - Inner Chroma moves from outer to inner.
From darkness into form - from breath into birth - from image into sensation - from vision into consciousness.
What Botticelli imagined as the birth of beauty becomes, here, the return of beauty into the mind.
An inner sea. An afterglow. A silent birth of color.
