The goddess of spring, Persephone. I wanted to represent her journey between the realm of the underworld and that of the earth, through the use of colors and images. In the upper part of the drawing, we see light colors and a light coming from the left corner, which represents the earth where she is about to ascend. In the lower part, we see darker colors to symbolize the underworld where Persephone spends six months of the year with her husband, Hades.
I also wanted to represent Persephone's struggle to rise up towards the light, through the image of chained seagulls. While her path to freedom is still incomplete due to the chains that bind her to Hades, Persephone remains determined and in constant ascent. I also represented Persephone's abduction by Hades through the chains that keep her tied to a stone, symbolizing the fact that she was taken against her will. With this drawing, I tried to represent Persephone's journey through the seasons, her struggle for freedom, and her symbolism as the goddess of spring and rebirth. File PNG
