The Bones Reader
He wears a mask of bones, A grim and ancient thing, That speaks the future's song In words both true and strange.
He sits in the king's court, And all the courtly throng Crowd round to hear his words, And watch his bone-masked song.
Some say he speaks the truth, And some say he is false, But all agree to hush When he begins his call.
He speaks of wars and death, Of peace and plenty too, Of love and joy and mirth, Of all that's yet to come.
And when he speaks, the king And all his courtly train Listen with rapt attention, And hang upon his strain.
But who knows if he speaks true? Who knows if he is false? Who knows what future lies Beyond the shadowed halls?
The Bones Reader speaks, And all must listen well, For in his words they hear The voice of fate itself.
