OUR IMAGINATIONS: Waiting Room Thoughts
"Waiting Room Thoughts" by Daniel Jerome 06/26-27/2022 4000x5000.PNG
Our Imaginations 03.
Inspired by a recent time I was anxiously waiting to be called for an evaluation in order to receive some new medication. I had 2 appointments in the same building that were really close to each other. So I spent a lot of time waiting and since it was early hours, it was a slow morning at the office. I found myself mostly alone thinking of how I was mentally prepping myself for a little over a month just for this important day outside.
The base prompt for the artificial intelligence was "Daniel Jerome alone sitting waiting room appointment digital oil painting". It first created the abstracted figure to the right (sitting closes to foreground), then I ran the text prompt another time to create the abstracted figure sitting more in the center of the piece. Then I photobashed the 2 together in PS after resizing both figures to create a sense of depth as well as some background textured layers underneath to create more empty space around the subjects while also trying to blend the masked edges of the ai pieces. From there, I digitally painted over everything to create more digital noise & atmosphere. After some smudge painting, then painted some color, adjusted color, added some collages elements outside of ai, added another layer of detailed digital paint over everything till satisfaction, added overlays/flares/textured filters, and final color + sharpness adjustments.
Really enjoying this process of flipping base ai creations & references to fit more of my personality. I also enjoy coming up with the more subtle ideas in comparison to my surreal collage experiments in 'Intriguing Seeings'. These sessions are also helping me learn a lot more about digital painting in PS considering most of my digi-painting so far has been very freeform abstract or expressionistic doodles over collage pieces. Here I really get to focus on how mixing the colors and spending detailed time in specific areas really make the difference in bringing things to life in this style. Looking forward to adding more to the collection.
