EXT. DRIVE-IN THEATER - NIGHT A dusty, moonlit evening casts a pale glow over the sprawling drive-in theater. Cars parked in neat rows face the giant silver screen, the air thick with the smell of buttered popcorn and the distant murmur of chatter. The flickering glow from the screen casts soft light onto the cars, the only source of illumination in the darkened lot. INT. CAR - NIGHT TOMMY: (mid-20s, slick-haired, in a leather jacket) cruises into the drive-in with a mischievous grin plastered on his face. He pulls up in front of the screen—but instead of parking like everyone else, he parks the car facing backward, headlights blazing. He smirks, tunes the radio to WX8BK, a low hum of jazz and static filling the air. He leans back in the seat, lighting a cigarette, casually exhaling as if he’s already miles away. SUSIE: (early 20s, vintage dress, hair in soft curls) glances at the screen and then back at Tommy, confused. She looks at the screen again, irritated. SUSIE: (rolling her eyes) Tommy, the movie’s starting. Why are we facing the wrong way? Tommy smiles, leaning over to pull out a bottle of wine from the glove compartment, offering her a glass. TOMMY: (pouring the wine, grinning) The night’s just getting started, Susie. Who needs the movie when the real show’s just around the corner? He passes the bottle to BITS (long-haired, beatnik), who’s lounging in the back seat, a thick cloud of smoke surrounding him, along with WILLY (scruffy, wearing sunglasses even at night). They share a laugh, the radio crackling with jazz, and the night swirls into a haze of wine, music, and good company. Since there are no writers for movies today.
