The Art Someone once said “Not all those who wander are lost”… John Muir maybe? I’m not sure. What I do know is that while wandering this beautiful country in his Recreational Vehicle, what some people call a R.V. PopLazarus found someone. A hip-hop musician from the south with a big afro that goes by the moniker JBurn. With his head buried in books expanding his love of the language searching for the perfect flow for his next 4 bars. JBurn joins PopLazarus on this journey to challenge culture.
PopLazarus, a somewhat traditional iconographer of unconventional pop culture. Mixing media from oil on canvas to digital drawings with modern animation technique all from the practical, multi use confines of the RV dining table. His classic portraiture style turned modern pop culture celebrities of Seinfeld, Bowie and The Mars Volta into instant icons of art that could share the walls of museums with the likes of Girl With a Pearl Earring or Marilyn Monroe. Improbable that these 2 styles, so different, would blend so well. Hours on the road together only able to listen to WX8BK’s The Night Train has expanded both their minds and preconceived notions of what art is supposed to be. Deciding to blend their talents and take a chance to be the ones that change what we think of art today.
While JBurn handles the beats, Pop drives the R.V. in search of the next celebrities for his icon transformation. After somehow crossing the pond or possibly after a bad trip the ideas of the familiar voices of Willy and Bits on the radio and a canceled British children's show somehow morph into one. A phantasmagoria is set to the lyrics of a JBurn solo cypher. A wonderful new genre of art is born and with it birthed three uninitiated celebrities now thrust into being pop culture icons.
