„Schrödinger’s Dog” is a surreal photograph inspired by Erwin Schrödinger's famous thought experiment.
The photograph is set in a bare, simultaneously castle-like room. The room is dominated by a large framed mirror leaning against a wall. On one side of the mirror is a girl in a white dress looking at the viewer. The mirror, however, does not reflect the room as it is. Instead, it shows another reality.
A dog sits next to the mirror, which on closer inspection is incomplete – it appears ghostly and lifeless, as if it were a mere ghost of the living being.
Next to this conflicted dog sits a second dog that seems completely normal and unimpressed by the surreal scene taking place next to it. This dog looks at the viewer with an expression of calm understanding.
„Schrödinger’s Dog” is a captivating exploration of the nature of reality. It juxtaposes the ordinary and the extraordinary, the living and the ghostly, to create a hauntingly beautiful and thought-provoking image.
