As an artist, creating Threads of Deception was deeply personal—a reflection of the fragility I often feel when navigating the choices life demands. The cracks in the glowing lines symbolize those moments of vulnerability, where something precious feels just out of reach, held together by hope but threatened by the weight of expectation.
This piece came from a place of introspection, a tug-of-war between trust and doubt, between beauty and betrayal. It’s as much about the allure of delicate dreams as it is about the pain of realizing the care they were promised was insincere.
Through this artwork, I poured my own experiences of uncertainty and resilience, hoping it speaks to those who’ve felt their own dreams teeter on the edge of fragility.
Story: It wasn’t the first time Jenny had felt the cracks. They were always there, just beneath the surface—a faint pressure that made her choices tremble like porcelain ready to shatter. Each decision was calculated, each step taken carefully along a line so thin it felt like walking a spider’s thread.
The glowing lines that surrounded her life seemed so beautiful, so delicate, so full of potential. But the beauty was a lie, wasn’t it? Each line wasn’t spun to hold her dreams; they were traps set by a world that whispered false promises of care and support.
“You’re doing fine,” the voices said, dripping with warmth that turned cold the moment she turned away. The cracks spread further, her every choice feeding them, until the glow dimmed and the thread beneath her feet snapped. Jenny fell into the realization: life wasn’t a web of connection—it was a fragile illusion spun from choices others hoped she’d make for them.
And yet, as she fell, she realized she wasn’t helpless. The next choice would be hers, even if it broke the world around her.
