Inscripted in the flag of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, "Libertas quæ sera tamen" means "Freedom albeit late" and was the motto of the "Inconfidência Mineira", which fought for Minas' independence from Portugal in the 18th century.
Minas Gerais is one of the most populous Brazilian states and it's known for its characteristic accent, unique and savory cuisine, artists and personalities, historical architecture, museums, landmarks and landscapes.
Oh! Minas Gerais! Oh! Minas Gerais! Quem te conhece Não esquece jamais Oh! Minas Gerais!
(Chorus part of the hymn "Oh Minas Gerais" by José Duduca de Morais and Manoel Araújo, which is taken as the [un]official hymn of the state)
