My journey in digital art began with a laptop and mouse. I couldn't afford a stylus, so with low opacity and short taps and strokes of my mouse, I'd create my digital artworks. It would take me several days to complete just one painting, and the aftermath of continuously creating art brought pain and cramps to my hand. Also with the fast-pacedness of the space, one feels like they always have to be churning out art, and that could leave one feeling burnt out.
“Drawing Hand” showcases a burnt-out hand. After months of continuously creating works, one's creativity and physical being can feel burnt out as they might not feel like giving themselves the grace to rest. One feels guilt for not creating a new artwork every few days. It is the hamster wheel of not wanting to fall behind, but unsure of what race they are exactly running. So after the flames of tirelessly burning their energy and creativity, their drawing hand is left as nothing but the dying embers of what it used to be.
