CONTROLS
We made a game commenting on the thesis that while social media can help us keep in touch with friends, social comparison triggered by browsing social media can also be a disaster for mental health.
In the game, you play "the nose", who’s sometimes too nosy about others, who live on the land of blocktrains. You, as the player, have to collect likes and hearts. In addition, if you click somewhere on the land, a symbol of heart or like will appear.
The game features a land where all blocktrains (except one) are sad because they are competing to be the most loved and liked. Immersed in the blocktrain culture, you also feel that you can only be happy when you have the greatest amount of hearts and likes.
Love is all we need; however, seeking love on social media is like drinking seawater in the middle of the ocean: the more we drink, the thirstier we become.
All We Need Is Like (2021) does not provide any remedy for the gloom that comes after an overdose of social media but hopes to make us aware of the linkage between social media consumption and poor mental health.
