The Liminal Network: Blocked
Istanbul is a city with 18 million population. Probably one of the most crowded places in the whole world. Faced a huge migration in the 1980s, people came here from rural parts to find jobs. Traffic is like a nightmare at all times of the day, public transportation is hard and worst of all, you certainly should drive 60-70 km to find a place less crowded for relaxing.
On the other side, it is the city I was born and raised in. Most people born here have a different kind of love for the beauties of this town, at least what's left of them.
Most of the time the city will make you feel stuck and blocked. The pier in the photograph is in one of the centers of Istanbul, but it had been blocked with the fences by the municipality. I have no idea why. It was like a summary of my feelings about Istanbul. Beautiful but blocked.

Info about the photographer: Hakan Biyiklioglu is a photography artist from Istanbul, Turkey. He started photography when he was 19 years old with his father’s Yashica camera. He chases for unusual moments and angles in ordinary city spots and streets, he makes use of wide spaces, minimized objects, and people, mixed with a feeling of serenity. Geometry, silhouettes, and shadows are mostly in play as well as long exposures. Traveling to rural parts, iconic cities, chatting with people before photographing them are essential parts of his photography adventure.
