This work is a continuation of my series "Daily Narratives," which I began in 2024. I captured approximately 300 scenes from everyday life using my smartphone, and then re-generated them as video using ComfyUI, a node-based interface for operating Stable Diffusion. The footage was further animated generatively with TouchDesigner, a node-based software for visual coding.
The original concept behind "Daily Narratives" was inspired by the idea of "dialogue," and it emerged through my conversations with ChatGPT. As an artist who started out in painting, I researched—together with ChatGPT—how master painters throughout history incorporated dialogue into their work. Through this process, I found deep resonance with the approach of Vilhelm Hammershøi, a Danish painter born in 1864, who repeatedly painted the interior of his Copenhagen apartment between 1898 and 1909. In "Daily Narratives," the theme of everyday life is at the very core of the work.
For this particular piece, I drew inspiration from the exhibition’s theme, "Echoes of Light." The flowers that appear in the video bring color to ordinary life, but their full bloom is both beautiful and fleeting. I layered this sense of transience with the metaphor of "echoes of light." These flowers, blooming under the sun, also seem to embody the memory of light within them.
Through this work, I hope viewers can sense the quiet brilliance of small lights—of life itself—embedded in daily moments, and feel the echoes they leave behind.
