The seagull was flying in the storm. She had been caught by surprise, as the weather had changed suddenly and violently. She had been looking for food on the shore, when the wind had picked up and the clouds had darkened. She had tried to find shelter, but it was too late. She was swept away by the gusts, into the raging sea.
She struggled to stay in the air, flapping her wings against the wind. She dodged the raindrops, the lightning bolts, the waves. She was scared, but she did not give up. She had a nest on a cliff, where her mate and her chicks were waiting for her. She had to get back to them, to protect them, to feed them.
She flew for hours, without seeing any land or any sign of the storm ending. She was tired, hungry, and cold. She felt her strength fading, her vision blurring, her heart slowing. She knew she was going to die, but she did not want to. She wanted to live, to see her family again, to feel the sun on her feathers.
She prayed to the sky god, the sea god, any god that would listen. She begged for mercy, for help, for a miracle. She cried out in pain, in fear, in despair.
She did not hear any answer.
She closed her eyes and waited for the end.
But then, she felt something. A warmth in her chest, a light in her mind, a voice in her ear.
It said: "Do not be afraid. I am here with you. I am your guardian angel."
She opened her eyes and saw a bright figure beside her. It looked like a seagull, but bigger and more beautiful. It had white feathers, golden eyes, and a halo around its head. It smiled at her and said: "I have come to save you."
It wrapped its wings around her and lifted her up. It flew with her through the storm, towards the land. It shielded her from the wind, the rain, the thunder. It whispered to her words of comfort, of hope, of love.
It said: "You are brave, you are strong, you are worthy. You have a purpose, you have a destiny, you have a gift. You are my child, you are my chosen one, you are my miracle."
It brought her to the cliff where her nest was. It set her down gently and said: "You are safe now. You have made it. You have survived."
It kissed her on the forehead and said: "I am proud of you."
It faded away and said: "I will always be with you."
She looked around and saw that the storm had passed. The sun was shining, the sky was clear, the sea was calm. She saw her mate and her chicks running towards her. They hugged her and kissed her and said: "We are so happy to see you."
She smiled and said: "I am happy to see you too."
She looked up and said: "Thank you."
She heard a voice say: "You are welcome."
