Abaporu

'Tupi or not Tupi, that is the question.'

This piece is a reinterpretation of the artwork 'Abaporu' (1928) by Brazilian artist Tarsila do Amaral. Abaporu became a symbol of the avant-garde movement known as Anthropophagy, whose manifesto was written by Oswald de Andrade, Tarsila’s husband, inspired by this work.
