Journey of a woman: Uwenni (God is Here)

2001 September 7th , a religious crisis happen in the city , my people were caught up unaware , the men left their houses to war , and urged the women and children to take refuge on the mountains . the battle was not in their favor,for many where shot dead and some injured ,but how could they win this battle with just sticks and machetes while their opponents had guns ? the women couldn't bare to raise fatherless children and become widows too ,so they came down from their hiding bringing with them stones from the mountains, while the men battle with sticks , machetes,bows and arrows, the women and children made local explosives and along with the stones the women went out to aid their husbands, fathers and brothers to protect the city . that day ,the bravery of the women gave them victory I'm one of those women who fought for her people .
