This work was created for the Year of the Metal Horse. The mirror-worked sky harmonizes with the Metal element. A mirror is, at its core, metal. Reflection, clarity, the fracture of light. The metallic horses move through soft pink terrain, symbolizing instinct shaped by resilience and controlled strength. The geometric sky is based on an original pattern I designed. It was first realized as a physical Iranian mirror-work (Ayeneh Kari) piece a handcrafted structure built from cut mirror fragments. The sky in this composition is a collage derived from a real photograph of that final mirror-work installation. In Iranian mirror art, geometry fractures light and multiplies reflection. Here, it becomes a metaphor for transition, renewal, and the disciplined clarity associated with the Metal element. In Chinese astrology, the Year of the Metal Horse returns only once every 60 years (12 animals × 5 elements = a 60-year cycle). This makes the combination rare it is not an annual repetition, but a specific moment within a larger cosmic cycle.
