A mirrored geometry of balance and rebirth , this piece celebrates the luminous legacy of Haydeh Changizian born in Tehran in 1945, trained in Iran, Germany, and later at the prestigious Vaganova Choreographic School of the Kirov Ballet in Leningrad. The first and only Iranian prima ballerina of her era. The ballerina’s body carries a grainy texture, not as decoration but as essence a skin of memory and presence, a reminder that movement is also history. She stands poised upon a crystal sphere, embodying the perfect equilibrium between gravity and grace. Behind her, ribbons of spectral light unfold, symbols of spirit, rhythm, and timeless energy. The grain here transforms into a language of touch, a rhythm of time made visible. Beneath her lies the geometric foundation of “Gereh Ma” (Our Knot) a mirror structure originally designed and handcrafted by Maral (2021). Each mirrored shape was cut by hand with diamond tools, later reimagined digitally to form the crystalline base of this piece. It grounds the dancer in reflection, connecting body and geometry, individuality and the collective “Ma”, the Persian word for We. In The Crystal Balance, the dance becomes reflection; the reflection becomes flight. It is a homage to Haydeh Changizian’s pioneering artistry, to women who shaped beauty through discipline, and to the dialogue between material and light.
