"Threshold of Awareness" or "Before I Had a Name"
Between these two faces, what has changed is her relation to the world. She stands at the threshold of awareness— aware that someone is watching her closely. A place where the mouth remains open and meaning has not yet taken shape. Precisely at the pause where she begins to decide who she will be— in the gaze of another. Right within the frame of a prison gate, at the threshold of losing freedom. This is neither ignorance nor knowledge. It is a moment suspended between the two, where the gaze has not yet decided which side of the world it belongs to. A half-open mouth, playful, searching eyes turning into a fixed stare, and a silence that stands before language. This image captures that second in which a human being, for the first time, becomes uncertain of their own existence. It is about the moment before language, before fear, before the world tells us who we are. Taher
