This photograph was taken at the dawn of the "Swords of Iron" war. As soldiers, we had undergone extensive preparations, steeling ourselves against the tide of fear. In those days leading up to the conflict, fear was a luxury we could not afford; there was no room in our hearts for it to breathe and grow.
The photograph captures the serene moment before we were to engage, a brief pause when reality and fear of the unknown crept into our thoughts. Deep down, we knew we had to meet our destiny as defenders standing on the edge of an abyss, ready to face the future.
Fun fact: This machine, the IDF Caterpillar D9, is nicknamed 'Doobi', which means 'teddy bear' in Hebrew.
