My Reflection. Doesn't Even Recognize Me: STILL SLEEPING ON MY BEAUTY

"STILL SLEEPING ON MY BEAUTY" by Daniel Jerome September 2022 4000x5000.PNG

Entry # 4 For the most part.. I stopped caring if I was handsome. Attractive. Just enough even.... But you wouldn't believe how much I needed this attention for most of my growing up. I was always one to be left behind or bullied, and I'd have to shine through with unrealistic efforts. I mean, whenever it worked out, probably was the most rewarding feeling as far as building self-esteem goes.. Covered up scars w/ make up, diminished ugly w/ whatever fake sex appeal, hid away the lonely through smiles & laughs just be a part of an experience I thought I was missing... Now I don't do shit, at least to that extent, for anything other than whatever I needed for myself. But that voice in my head still wants me to make use of this whole thing.. To achieve greatness to prove to myself & the haters (oooo, aye pls don't hate me tho, it's all love if possible). Anyway, this is a portrait of someone I saw in the mirror. But like who even was that though? Maybe if we peel away the layers, we could find a little one drowning themself in music. Tackling away at blank pages. Writing words from alternative, pop, r&b radio hits. Mixing colors that shouldn't & don't actually represent what the eyes pick up. Will I notice this person? Or do I care to? We may or may not find out next time on...."My Reflection. Doesn't Even Recognize me" (mr.derm)
