This is a mini series of commissioned work by Michelin Star Chef Hieda Ryohei. Although the work didn't vibe with the chef, but I view it as a complete work, and through the process of completing the commissioned work, I explore and challenge the range my expressions.
The work attempts to capture quote of Eika from Mencius, which coincidentally was the same name as Chef's elementary school. The concept is by working hard everyday then maybe river or streams accumulated into the vast ocean, the ethos of Chef's upcoming restaurant Eika. In #2- Marsh Green, my splash painting style, in the eyes of Chef is puree plating, which is not quite to his taste. And garnish of boats and house was overkill.
But nevertheless please enjoy the dish.
