The third in my series exploring Ai to communicate and document arts and culture on the blockchain. Recently there has been a great deal of discussion among digital artists about releasing art into the Public Domain (CC0). I've been experimenting with this myself. For me, there is no better way to explore the concept than by utilizing historical works as inspiration for something new. This piece marks the first time I've animated only the musician in the work, leaving the background static.
Lemon Henry "Blind Lemon" Jefferson (September 24, 1893 – December 19, 1929) was an American blues and gospel singer-songwriter and musician. He was one of the most popular blues singers of the 1920s and has been called the "Father of the Texas Blues".
I imagine him sitting outside a barber shop in Deep Ellum, picking and singing for the passers-by, most of whom were surely unaware of his greatness. Stop for a moment and listen to the birth of the blues.
