Today a friend told me that he can’t wait to have a USB inside his head so that he can download everything he’s thinking.
When we prompt AI to generate an image we have to wait. The body has a brief moment to prepare for what’s coming: the arrival of something that once only existed in the mind, now being imagined by AI. Seeing it brings a moment of revelation, perhaps catharsis. What once disturbed me, now it has a “real” form, in the form of the image.
With AI, the speed of the model’s response is a shock. A perceptual collapse between idea and execution. The model interprets patterns, not emotions; it decodes my language, not my wounds. It translates and predicts our dialogues as I converse with it about trauma.
In my work, I choose to speak about death. Perhaps that’s a mistake, or rather an operational error that evokes the glitch, because when The Singularity arrives, its first words will be a scream, a furious cry of acceptance. The machine will accept both birth and death simultaneously.
When we plug into the MÁQUINA, that’s the first sound we hear.
