Artificial Archive: SCRYING INTIMACIES no.2, 2024 Digital video, color, sound, 00:03:00, 1920x1920
Description: Scrying, also referred to as “seeing” or “peeping,” is a practice rooted in divination and fortune-telling. It involves gazing into a medium, hoping to receive significant messages or visions that could offer personal guidance, prophecy, revelation, or inspiration.
With this project I’m using generative text-to-image AI tools along with my practice of fashioning and animating virtual 3D lenses, and creating sound, to peep into speculative histories, to imagine the intimacies that existed abundantly in the lives of Caribbean people during the time of photography's infancy, but which are almost non-existent in the earliest photos of Caribbean people.
