Annie to Ansel (June 5)
June 5
Dear Ansel,
When I think about England, I think of Penny Lane and I know that is not in London and all, but I wish one day to see it.
Thanks for your card. You are the first one to write. And I am really grateful to everyone for the idea of the postcards.
Grandma is doing okay. I sort of thought we would have more conversations. But it’s been mostly quiet, a few words here and there. Maybe just “ordinary” is the way I would describe it. Still, there’s a lot in just being present. I know that.
I really think there are things that connect us that we don’t see, stories we send each other without knowing.
I mean, like our heartbeats, maybe they are like waves in the sea, stretching wide across the earth?
Some days, the laughter faces, and I wonder if someone else can feel it too.
But I am okay. I hope you are too. Has Georgia written to you? I miss the both of you.
Annie
