In the Lions, den is from a collection of studies during my stay on a private game farm, alone mostly, with my two beautiful timberwolf mix malamutes. The Namaqualand desert flowers are a sight to behold. and the excitement of the big 5, 4 x Cape Buffalo, and 100' other antelope, amongst them, is palatable. When the rains dry up the land turns into a deep sandy desert, with beach-like white sand. water needs to be pumped into the dams/ watering holes.
this section of the farm is in the old Lion's den, where we spent a lot of the time, the wolves could eat for days from the carrion bones lying around. Sadly not long before we arrived to live there, one of the Rhinos was poached, the owners moved all the larger animals and the remaining rhino to another game farm and sold this one for a pittance on auction. This farm is far from any industrial farming so there are no pesticide problems and the flowers are always in abundance.
