In 2017, Mitchell F. Chan created one of the earliest tokenized artworks by thinking about blockchain tokens as an obvious site to continue the work of conceptualists like Yves Klein. In this talk, Chan takes us from that moment to today, when video games are the site where multiple currents in contemporary art are about to converge.
ABOUT MITCHELL F. CHAN
Mitchell F. Chan has been described by one critic as “committed to the most serious ideas of conceptualism in the most playful way possible.” His most recent work includes: The Boys of Summer, an interactive sports management simulation; and Winslow Homer’s Croquet Challenge, an allegorical croquet video game about Reconstruction-era America, commissioned by the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. He is best-known for creating one of the earliest non-fungible token artworks, 2017's Digital Zones of Immaterial Pictorial Sensibility.
