Once, she was worshipped as the goddess of desire.
Kings surrendered their crowns for a glimpse of her beauty. Poets carved her name into stone. Mortals begged for a love that would never end.
And she loved them.
Every single one.
But each time someone gave her their heart, they vanished before the next sunrise.
Believing herself abandoned, she planted a black rose for every love she lost.
Centuries passed.
Her garden grew beyond the palace walls, swallowing fountains, statues, and forgotten graves.
Then, beneath a crimson eclipse, the roses began to whisper.
A thousand voices called her name.
She knelt among the flowers, and from their petals rose the faces of everyone she had ever loved.
Only then did she understand.
They had never abandoned her.
The curse had transformed them into something that could never leave.
She reached toward a familiar face, desperate to remember his name.
But the spirit only smiled.
Because the cruelest part of her curse was not losing those who loved her.
It was being loved forever by people she could no longer remember.
And so the goddess remained in her garden, surrounded by every love she had ever known, and utterly alone.
