We also don't understand the colors, they didn't leave us looking like that. More significant is what came back inside those suits. Even the cells aren’t right. The parts are there, but in the wrong order. The cells can’t metabolize, can’t transport. The proteins they synthesize are nonsense strings.

The first crew to come back died quickly. The red one, whoever that was, lived longer. Almost four minutes—like whatever is sending them across is learning.
