Japan travel journal: One Yatai

“Yatai” is Fukuoka’s famous open air food stalls located along the river on Nakasu Island. They can usually seat 7-8 people and are the city’s best known symbol. Serving simple yet delicious plates such as yakitori, oden and their famous Hakata Ramen, Yatai’s are typically open from ~7pm to ~2am. We tried 3 different stalls and over 8 different dishes and absolutely loved every single one of them. This Yatai had the best fried gyoza though.
