A person alone can’t do a thing,
They always need another to cling.
Someone to multiply their soul,
For whom to craft a verse’s roll.
With whom to conquer deep despair,
With whom to split joy, fair and square.
Who, in a flash, can testify,
That you’re real, not just a lie.
For in themselves they scarce believe,
A witness they seek, a truth to weave.
No person found—they’ll trap a beast,
No beast to catch—they’ll seek a priest.
No god to find—they’ll grab a glass,
Yet even there, themselves bypass.
For in their face, death’s mask they spy,
Not grasping death’s a nullified lie…
Alone, a person can’t arise,
Nor softly fade, nor close their eyes.
So be my other, God, I pray,
Stand near me now, don’t drift away.
Be still…
Breathe low…
Just stay…
